Pedestrian Struck by SUV at San Jose & Hartley Road in Jacksonville

From Jacksonville.com:

A 35-year-old pedestrian was in non-life-threatening condition after getting hit by an SUV at around 2:45pm on December 3, 2013 in the 10600 block of San Jose Boulevard in Jacksonville. A 57-year-old woman was killed and her daughter were injured as they were walking near the same location in September 2013.

The man was crossing San Jose eastbound near Hartley Road when he was hit by the northbound SUV, according to Sgt Ron Thompson. His condition was first believed to be life-threatening, but was upgraded at the hospital.

Esther Ohayon and her 16-year-old daughter were struck by a car driven by Michael Fortunato while crossing San Jose near Haley Road, as reported in this blog on September 20. Fortunato also struck and killed a 6-year-old girl crossing San Jose at Kori Road with her mother and 5-year-old brother almost four years ago.

While incidents such as this are thankfully rare, it may serve as a reminder to always be aware and cautious when crossing any streets, and that one simply never knows who might be around the next corner.

The Law Offices of Paul J. Healy have represented victims of personal injury in Jacksonville and the North Florida counties of Duval, Baker, Clay, Nassau and St. Johns since 1989.
